In 2019, MOM conducted 17,000 workplace inspections, which uncovered more than 8,900 contraventions such as unguarded openings and unsafe means of access in worksites. MOM issued 58 stop-work orders with an average duration of 6 weeks. Composition fines amounting to $1,426,000 were imposed on close to 1000 companies.

In 2022, the top three causes of workplace major injuries were (i) Slips, Trips & Falls; (ii) Falls from Height; & (iii) Machinery incidents. These collectively accounted for 59% (363 injuries) of the total number of workplace major injuries in 2022. Fall from height can be eradicated by using scaffolding constructed by competent persons.
